The prolific genius whose name is on nearly every room in mathematics
Leonhard Euler, born in Switzerland, was the most prolific mathematician in history, and he kept working ā calculating in his head ā even after losing his sight late in life. The constant e, the function notation f(x), the popular use of Ļ: a great deal of the notation we write today passed through his hands, including e^(iĻ)+1=0, often called the most beautiful equation.
